The quiz show, hosted by Amol Rajan, had a picture round. Teams had to look at a U.S. town and name a song by the singer in the photo. When a picture of Tina Turner appeared, the contestants found it hard to remember one of her famous songs.

Funny Mistake Between Two Songs

The University Challenge episode with the funny Tina Turner answer was shown on Monday, March 24, 2025.

In this quarter-final match, Bristol University played against Darwin College, Cambridge. They were competing for a place in the next round of the famous academic quiz.

Rajan explained the rules:

“You need to say the singer’s name and the song title. The song must have the name of the town in the picture.”

The right answer was Nutbush City Limits, a 1973 song about Tina Turner’s hometown, Nutbush, Tennessee. But Harrison Whitaker from Darwin-Cambridge said the wrong song—Chattanooga Choo Choo, a 1941 song by the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

After saying his answer, Whitaker realized his mistake. “This feels so wrong,” he said.

Rajan started laughing. He bent forward, trying to stop himself from laughing too much.

“That was a bold guess,” he said, still smiling. “No, the answer is Nutbush City Limits.”

Fans React: ‘How Can You Not Know That?’

People on social media, like X (formerly Twitter) and BlueSky, shared their reactions to the funny mistake.

“Nutbush City Limits!! How can you not know that??” one person wrote.

Another said, “Tina Turner – Chattanooga Choo Choo. Funniest answer EVER!”

“They’re on the wrong track,” someone joked, talking about the train-themed Chattanooga Choo Choo.

One fan was surprised, saying, “It’s strange to know Chattanooga Choo Choo but not Nutbush City Limits.”

Another joked, “I always mix up Tina Turner and the Glenn Miller Orchestra too!”
