T.D. Jakes Had a Big Heart Attack on Stage
I agree—his recovery is truly remarkable, especially considering how serious the situation was. The fact that he went back to preaching so soon shows his strong will and faith. It also highlights how important it is to have quick medical care in emergencies.

A Scary Moment in Church
Yes, that is true. On November 23, 2024, during a Sunday church service, Bishop T.D. Jakes suddenly stopped talking. He lowered his microphone and looked confused. In the video, people in the church quickly ran to help him on the stage.
At first, the church said it was a “small health problem.” But in an interview on March 26, 2025, Bishop Jakes said he actually had a big heart attack at that moment. He said he did not feel sick before and did not know how serious it was until he went to the hospital.
Doctors told him he was lucky because he got help very fast. They said he could have died in a few minutes. Many people were shocked when they saw the video, and now they know it was a very serious situation.
“I didn’t know what was happening,” Jakes said in an interview. “I had no pain, no numbness. I just felt sleepy. But I almost died.”
‘Five Minutes Later, I Would Have Died’
Jakes said he felt fine while preaching. But when he sat down, his body got weak.
A doctor told him, “You had a big heart attack. If it happened five minutes later, you would be dead.”
Doctors found a blood clot blocking his heart. They did emergency surgery right away—while he was still awake.
A Near-Death Moment
Jakes said he saw a peaceful, white space before doctors saved him.
“It’s hard for me to watch the video,” he said. “They had to take the microphone from me. In my mind, I was in a calm, quiet place. I was leaving this world.”
A Miracle and a Return to Church
Doctors took Jakes to the ICU. He had several close calls but survived. Only a few weeks later, on New Year’s Eve, he went back to the same church stage. He told his church:
“They almost lost me twice. But your prayers saved me. I am here today because of God.”
