In a startling move posted on his Truth Social account on Nov. 14 Donald Trump publicly threatened to use the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI to investigate his political rivals over ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump specifically named Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, and major institutions like J.P. Morgan, Chase in his demand to determine “what was going on with them, and him.”
But the intended political damage is likely to fail. Why?
Because the moral damnation of child sex trafficking and pedophilia is not a partisan issue. As liberal in good standing my response to the demand to investigate anyone Democrat or Republican truss to this convicted sex offender is simple: “Super. Let it rip. Go get ‘em.”
The fundamental difference Trump doesn’t grasp is that most Americans, across the ideological spectrum, want the truth and demand accountability regardless of political affiliation.
The Truth Social Threat Versus the Public Demand
Trump’s Actions & Motivation show a clear pattern of denial and downplay all things Epstein. While his supporters often believe the Epstein files contain proof of a vast “left-wing cabal,” Trump himself is actively trying to suppress the very information his Republican base craves.
Why Trump is Clearly Scared
The author asserts that Trump clearly knows how bad the Epstein files will be for him. The evidence for this present panic is multi-layered:
- The Silence: If the Epstein documents absolved Trump of any guilt, they would already be public. Instead, he has done everything possible to delay their release.

- The Hoax Claim: Trump has repeatedly called the Epstein scandal “all a big hoax” and instructed his followers to “move on.”
- Ghislaine Maxwell: Trump reportedly facilitated the favorable placement of Epstein co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell in a minimum-security facility.2
The conclusion is simple: his efforts to downplay all things Epstein prove he fears what the full Epstein client list will reveal.
The Staggering Public Consensus: 77% Demand Release
The most devastating indictment of the delay comes from the American people. Releasing the Epstein documents is arguably the only issue of our time that generates near-universal agreement.
An NPR/PBS News/Marist Poll published in October revealed a staggering fact: 77% of all respondents want the files released.

This massive public opinion consensus—where over two-thirds of Republicans oppose their own political leader’s attempts to delay—shows that the issue transcends partisanship.
Furthermore, 61% of Americans disapprove of the administration’s handling of the files, including 25% of Republicans, an astonishing level of disapproval within a party often described as an “iron-clad cult of personality.”

Accountability Is Not Partisan: The Trump Jr. Test
