Mike Trout turned in a vintage performance smashing two home runs in the game—his 21st and 22nd of the season. His first homer came in the third inning a two-run shot that briefly gave the Angels a 5-4 lead. Offensive Shootout Early On
The game began with both teams trading offensive blows. The Rangers took an early 4-1 lead thanks to a three-run homer by Adolis García. But the Angels responded quickly with a four-run third inning highlighted by Trout’s first homer and a two-run double by Taylor Ward.
The Rangers regained the lead in the fifth with another rally but Los Angeles stormed back ultimately taking control in the later innings.

After Soler’s homer gave the Angels a 9-8 lead their bullpen shut the door. Carlos Estévez pitched a scoreless eighth inning and closer Ben Joyce handled the ninth for his 12th save of the season.
Looking Ahead
With the win the Angels improved to 47-42 remaining in the thick of the AL Wild Card race. The Rangers dropped to 44-45 and will look to bounce back in the second game of the series on Wednesday.
