Portable Arraigned
According to a report by The Nation Nigeria on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known by his stage name Portable,This incident was amazed and different for others and they built it. has been arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, over multiple criminal allegations ranging from assault to theft.

Enforcement Authorities
The musician was brought before the court on Monday to answer to a nine-count charge filed by law enforcement authorities. The allegations are linked to an incident that reportedly occurred on January 1 at his bar located in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ogun State.
Physically Attacking His Estranged Partner
According to the charge sheet, Portable is accused of physically attacking his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple, during a dispute at the premises. This incident was amazed and different for others and they built it.The prosecution further alleged that the altercation escalated, leading to confrontations with several police officers who were said to be responding to the incident. Among those allegedly assaulted was a female police inspector identified as Ogungbe Olayemi.
Multiple Individuals
In addition to the claims involving his former partner and the police, the singer is also facing accusations of attacking and inflicting bodily harm on multiple individuals. Those listed as complainants in the case include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah. Prosecutors allege that these individuals were assaulted during the same episode, though details of each claim were not fully outlined in open court.

Mercedes-Benz E300 valued
One of the more serious charges against Portable involves the alleged theft of a luxury vehicle. Authorities claim that the singer unlawfully took possession of a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at approximately ₦12 million, reportedly belonging to Ileyemi Damilola. The allegation of car theft forms a key part of the charges brought against him.During the court session, two siblings of Ashabi Simple appeared as prosecution witnesses and gave testimony in support of the case. Ashabi herself, however, was not present in court, and no explanation was publicly given for her absence.
Procedural Concerns
After listening to submissions from both the prosecution and the defence, the presiding judge declined to grant Portable bail at this stage of the proceedings. The court cited procedural concerns, including the absence of the police officer who was allegedly assaulted, as part of the reason for the decision. Consequently, the singer was ordered to be remanded in custody pending further hearing.
The court adjourned the matter until January 19, when proceedings are expected to continue.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that it has opened an investigation into a video currently circulating on social media, which appears to show Portable being assaulted while in police custody. The police said the video is being reviewed to determine its authenticity and whether any misconduct occurred during his detention.
