Friday 19 December 2025 Justices Desmond Fagan sentenced him to a penalty based on the cowardice and inhumanity of the offence. Zayat who was found guilty of murder in November 2025 and will spend 18 years in prison.
The court also examined bodycam footage of Zacharieh crying in front of officers during the sentencing which the prosecution also considered crocodile tears. Justice Fagan in his comments was scathing and he said that Zayat was a big muscular male, who claimed to have exerted his dominance on a defenseless diminutive woman.
