Job Description: Janitor
- Position Title: Janitor
- Reports To: Store Manager, Facilities Manager, or Maintenance Supervisor
As a Janitor, your primary responsibility is to maintain the store’s cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance. This role ensures that all store areas, including sales floors, restrooms, break rooms, and storage areas, are clean and well-maintained. Adhering to safety protocols and company guidelines will help create a welcoming environment for customers and employees.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Daily Tasks: Perform daily cleaning duties, such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting floors, fixtures, and surfaces throughout the store.
- Restroom Care: Clean and sanitize restrooms regularly, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors; restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
- Trash Disposal: Empty trash bins and recycling containers throughout the store, and dispose of waste in designated areas.
- Break Room Cleanliness: Maintain break rooms, wipe down tables, countertops, and appliances, and ensure a clean, comfortable space for employees.
- Entryways & Glass Care: Keep entryways, windows, and glass doors clean for a welcoming appearance.
2. Health and Safety:
- Safe Practices: Follow safety guidelines and procedures when using cleaning chemicals and equipment to prevent accidents.
- Hazard Reporting: Report any potential hazards, such as wet floors or broken equipment, to your supervisor immediately.
- Use of PPE: Adhere to proper cleaning protocols, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
3. Maintenance of Equipment:
- Equipment Care: Operate and maintain cleaning equipment like floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, and buffers, ensuring they function properly.
- Routine Checks: Perform routine checks on equipment and report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Secure Storage: Store all cleaning tools and supplies safely after use.
4. General Responsibilities:
- Special Projects: Assist with special cleaning projects as directed, such as deep cleaning or seasonal tasks.
- Communication: Keep open communication with management to report any concerns related to cleanliness.
- Uniform Standards: Follow company uniform and hygiene standards consistently.
- Supportive Role: Assist the store team with additional tasks as needed.
