Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma.
• Experience in caretaking.

Certifications:

• Fireman’s Certificate (needed for City Hall and Engineering and Works Facilities).
• Certification for using a one-man lift (needed for Recreation Facilities).

Skills and Knowledge:

• Good understanding of cleaning and building upkeep.
• Know how to safely handle and store cleaning chemicals.
• Familiar with the Saskatchewan Boiler Act and Regulations.
• Able to check mechanical systems and boilers.
• Skilled in using maintenance and cleaning tools.
• Good communication with colleagues, City staff, and the public.
• Able to lift, bend, and climb.

Additional Requirements:

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Willingness to work different shifts.
• Physically able to do the job.
• May need to pass a criminal record check.

Responsibilities

• Clean and take care of different buildings.
• Check and report any problems with boilers, furnaces, and other machines.
• Do small repairs and maintenance.
• Use and store cleaning chemicals safely.
• Help with moving furniture and setting up rooms.
• Keep track of cleaning and maintenance work.
• Take care of the grounds, including removing snow and picking up litter.
• Make sure buildings are secure and equipment is properly stored.
• Follow health and safety rules.
