One of the worst things to happen is getting the ideal wedding ring and due to a few weeks after the wedding, your dream jewelry slips apart. It is the case of Calista Presti, a Florida bride whose jewelry nightmare has attracted the attention of millions of people on social media.
Having gone through a romantic personalization experience to a viral TikTok video with more than 740,000 views, the experience of Presti indicates the start of a sore issue among contemporary consumers: at what point does luxury jewelry cease being a daily treasure and begin to become a liability?
The Ring of Dreams Which Has Turned into a Nightmare.
Calista Presti of Brooksville, Florida believed that she had found the one when her husband offered her a custom-designed ring at Kay Jewelers. She had been very demanding of her sisters when it came to her husband meticulously working on the diamond ring and the corresponding wedding band.
But trouble was soon to follow soon after the wedding in late September. Within two weeks of wearing the ring, Presti realized to his dismay that a diamond was missing and decided to send the ring back to ring resizing shop.
The “Don’t Wear It” Dilemma .
The Diagnostic results were disastrous when Presti gave the ring back to a jewelry examination. One of the followers of the store pointed out that almost all the loose fittings and prongs were not working even a setting of the center stone.
Worse still was the maintenance recommendations: Presti was advised not to wear the ring to sleep, in the shower or to work. This resulted in her viral query to the Tik Tok community: When should I wear this?
Tik Tok vs. Kay Jewelers Viral Accountability.
Presti brought her story to Tik Tok, as the stones kept falling out even when she was not being active. The video immediately turned into a review and feedback center on the internet, and the stone loss experience was being shared by thousands of women with whom they had the same experience.
The Official Response of the Brand.
Kay Jewelers responded to the scandal in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE Magazine in its statement: At KAY Jewelers, we are customer first, and we are in the process of dealing with Ms. Presti to get this issue resolved to her satisfaction.
The brand contacted them through the social media and the solution was attempted through prong reinforcement. Instead of exchanging the original style with a different one, Presti eventually decided to include the additional prongs to her initial band with the reference to an emotional attachment to the original custom design.
Consumer Caution: 3 Things to do Before you Purchase.
The experience that Presti went through is an eye-opener to couples who spend plenty of cash on bridal sets.
In order to escape the regrets of the wedding ring, take the following steps that have been supported by experts:
1. Study the Environment: Some patterns such as the “pavé” or eternity bands contain more areas of failure. Question prong reinforcement and security of small stones.
2. Check the Warranty: Find out what is meant by lifetime coverage. Does it entail stone replacement when one of the prongs is discovered to be faulty?
3. Check Independent Reviews: Get access to real-life customer service experiences on the sites such as Tik Tok or Reddit and go beyond the retailer’s website.
