Early Life And Education

Lauren was born on December 19, 1969, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her dad, Ray, worked in aviation. Her mom, Eleanor, once helped run Los Angeles. Lauren is proud to be Mexican-American. She went to Del Norte High School. Then she studied at the University of New Mexico and El Camino College. That’s when she learned she had dyslexia. She later studied communications at the University of Southern California (USC). In 1990, she was chosen as a cover girl for Models World Magazine.

Broadcasting Career

Lauren started her TV career at KCOP-TV in Los Angeles. She worked her way up from a desk assistant to an anchor. She then became a reporter at KTVK in Phoenix. Later, she worked for Extra and Fox Sports Net. Her show “Going Deep” got an Emmy nomination. She was also part of “Best Damn Sports Show Period.” She won an Emmy in 2001 as a news anchor at UPN News 13. From 1999 to 2005, she co-hosted “Good Day LA” on Fox 11. In 2000, she almost became a host on “The View.” She hosted the first season of “So You Think You Can Dance” in 2005. In 2009, she came back to Extra as a weekend anchor.
